  • Baby B Rank:  Riding Dirty- So, the salads are HUGE! Very huge!! Great deal but not so much the best tasting food you will ever encounter. Also, we sat on a couch which was cool and comfy but being a total absent minded mommy, and baby B playing with my cell all the time, we forgot my iPhone in the couch and didn’t realize this until we got home. I called the place and they wouldn’t check the couch for us to make sure it was still there because 2 girls were currently sitting there. Um? Ok? Seriously? Thanks, cool. So I went in myself and asked the 2 girls to hop up so I could snatch up my phone…which of course was right under them.
  • Price: Good deal $7.50 for Huge salad. Food not so special.

Baby Here We Come: Los Angeles Edition #babyblog #mommyblog #LA #lababy #nybaby

This month we will be living in the city of Angles in Los Angeles, while working on some projects. This is a great opportunity for us to check out just how these LA spots treat mama, baby and our big ass stroller. Yes we are still keeping our NYC attitude and will be rolling into some of the trendy spots. This also gives us an cool opportunity to try out some other baby products that we don’t typically use in NYC.

Restaurants:  We will keep our normal rating system bc we want to see if these ballers treat strollers as nicely as our NYC hot spots. We don’t hate and still keep our street style.

Products:  We are trying out some of the new baby products that we normally don’t get a chance to…from a new high chair, to new binky’s we’re staying open minded and doing comparison.

Baby Hot Spots:  You know parks, baby gyms, mama gyms that are baby friendly. We will go and let you know.

Baby B is easily loving this LA lifestyle.

Bastian is rocking out in his A Bit of Lovely booties, and cozy Hanna Anderson jumpsuit.

Falling for LA – Fall takes us to Los Angeles #LA #Hollywood #LalaLand

The song Viva La Vida by Coldplay(I’m so out of it, they could be broken up by now) always reminds me of Autumn in New York because that’s when I use to listen to it on repeat, when I was new to #NYC and hitting the pavement…I had like 3 auditions for the movie Scott Pilgrim(don’t worry you didn’t miss anything I didn’t get the role, thanks Alison Pill). So to this day, Viva takes me back to this very specific time of season. #WELCOMEFALL #FallForward

  • The Crib– as in how to and what to take with you on a LONG travel trip with baby. From clothes, bibs to bathtubs I’ll let you know what to take and what to leave.

This blog is all about hitting the top restaurants  with BIG strollers, tiny babies in big cities. So check in to see where Bastian and I have ventured and if we were asked to leave once they saw our HUGE SUV of a stroller roll in(we have a Bugaboo Cameleon, it’s big). We’re eaten’ food, burpin babies and taken names.

RANKINGRiding Dirty (1)- the lowest of the low;  Strollin (5)- kindly asked us to hit the road; Rollin (10)- these ballers know how to roll.

The Spot:  “The Ninth Ward” 180 Second Ave. NY LES, East Village

  • Baby B Rank:  Rollin/Strollin– First off Diana, who set up our very large party reservation was great. She threw in Mimosa’s for our drink specials and let my baby B stay in his stroller in the garden which they said had never been done before. Very sweet! The food/service was the only thing really lacking. However, I will note we had a party of 16 which is hard for anyone to get all the orders exactly right. There is also a large bathroom I was able to fit the stroller in when the B man needed to collect himself. I like the garden area in the back too- it’s outside but covered…love that.
  • Food:  The kitchen was back up and running so we had the regular brunch menu, yippy!! Some items were not as they should be- mainly my Avocado salad without any avocados- sadness, I ordered chicken for $4 bucks more and it was 3 very thin pieces/strips. Some folks didn’t get sandwiches until everyone else had finished like 10 min after…my cousin and I were the only ones to order a salad and she was the VERY last to be served. There were water bottles but no glasses for a good 15+ min. The french fries were pretty amazing I will say and the burgers looked on point. Yelp it.
  • Price:  $12-19 per meal for brunch; $15 for unlimited drinks w/ whole table participation;  $13 cocktails, happy hour is buy one get one beers and wells
  • Location:  LES, Lower East Side, East Village, Union Square

The Spot:  “The Boathouse” East 72nd Street and Park Drive North New York, NY (212) 517-2233

  • Baby B Rank:  Strollin– They were not helpful or too happy to seat us inside with the stroller, so we made our way outside to the deck where you seat yourself and it’s every man/buggy for themselves. I shoved my big a#$ buggy down the isle and knocked over some wafer sized coeds and snagged a seat.
  • Food:  Only drinks. My mom and I cooled off after taking B man to the toy store and this was a great end to her week with us!
  • Price:  $15/drink totally worth the view
  • Location:  Central Park, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Uptown

The Spot:  “Narcissa” 21 Cooper Square (corner of 5th St and Bowery) New York, NY 10005 (212) 228 3344

  • Baby B Rank:  Rollin– This spot is located in The Standard Hotel. I’ve always wanted to try it, but alas it seemed way too trendy for baby’s and buggies. However, we put on our big girl/boy panties and we rolled in. They were great. We sat in the garden which was great for our party bc we can get a little rowdy. I forgot a baby spoon, bc B man eats his meals with us now, and they were more than helpful in finding a teeny tiny sugar spoon for the little man to use. At one point the B man was over it. He was over Narcissa and over The Standard, it just became so “last night” for him. So the hostess was awesome and took me into the hotel part and actually hooked us up with the hotel staff to let us chill in a suite, so I could nurse him and let him crawl around. Very Very Very cool.
  • Food:  Interesting, but under whelming considering the cost. The carrot fries were really great though. I wouldn’t recommend the shrimp salad. I ordered the Branzino which I was happy with and my husband ordered the Duck, which he wasn’t too over the moon for.
  • Price:  Pretty expensive. This was a special dinner for us. $40 plus a head.
  • Location:  Cooper Square (corner of 5th St and Bowery)

The Spot:  “Americana Diner” 1160 Rt 35  Shrewsbury, NJ 07702

  • Baby B Rank:  Rollin– Strolled into this American diner joint, and without even a word the manager sees us and says “I’ve got the perfect spot for you guys, give me 2 seconds…” and it seriously took like 2 seconds. The place was packed and servers were running back and forth during the Sat. morning breakfast crowd but they were so sweet and made us feel right at home from the second we stepped foot inside. I also saw and heard them treat other families with strollers this way too. Great workers.
  • Food: It’s your typical diner food. I however, have never met a plate of eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast I haven’t liked or finished. If you’re interested you can check them out on yelp.
  • Price: Less than $12 bucks for both of us to eat and be full. Done and Done.
  • Location:  Shrewsbury, New Jersey

The Spot:  “Village Taverna”  81 University Place New York, NY 10003   212.982.3580

  • Baby B Rank:  Rollin– LOVE LOVE LOVE, this place for Greek food. I’ve actually been to 3 of their locations and love each of them. This specific location near Union Square is larger than the East Village spot- so they were MORE than happy to seat us with the big stroller and gave us a huge space all to ourselves in the back, away from the crowd. Also, stalker note, it’s right around the corner from Alec Baldwin’s apt. so maybe you can spot a celebrity if that’s on your list of things to do. Check them out on Yelp.
  • Food: Amazing. The trio dip sampler is the way to go for cold appetizers, and grilled octopus is amazing. I usually get the crab cakes app as my main dish at the East Village location bc they are HUGE and are all lump crab meat with hardly any breading. BUT, they don’t have the crab cakes at this location. I got the grilled chicken and it was large enough for my hubby and I to split and take food home! Amazing amazing food!!
  • Price: $36 bucks after tax, and tip. Can’t beat it for the quality and HUGE quantity.
  • Location:  Union Square

B Man hit’s up The Marrow during Restaurant Week 2014

The Spot:  “The Marrow” 99 bank st. (corner of greenwich & bank streets)new york, ny 10014 212.428.6000

  • Baby B Rank:  Rollin– It was smack dab in the middle of NY Restaurant Week and they not only easily sat us with the big A@# stroller, they did it at rush hour 730pm with no wait. B was wide awake the whole time, chewing his Plum Organic Super Puffs, and Baby Mum-Mum’s..shaking his rattle…no one said anything but how cute he was. They were zoo welcoming.
  • Food: The Marrow Burger is the way to go here. We were with a large group and practically got the whole menu, so I sampled a bit of everything and can honestly say DO NOT get the chicken Milanese, it was tasteless. The Quail was uber tiny so be sure you ate before. The Hanger steak was good. Skate was also pretty good but not filling.
  • Price: It’s not cheap. The burger was $17 bucks, and I didn’t get wine this time. For the price of the burger I’d probably rather hit up The Spotted Pig-however, there is NO WAY they are seating a stroller in that joint.

Union Square Cafe with Baby B

Bastian headed to Union Square Cafe in NYC

Bastian headed to Union Square Cafe in NYC

So we hit up this NY classic joint with some out of town friends and family. I had only been once before and that was only for cocktails years ago. B man felt necessary to put on the Paparazzi shades for the occasion.

Afterwards, it was great to hit up the playground. So I have to say Union square location does have that as a plus after the meal.

RANKINGRiding Dirty (1)- the lowest of the low;  Strollin (5)- kindly asked us to hit the road; Rollin (10)- these ballers know how to roll.

The Spot: “The Union Square Cafe”  21 E 16th St, New York, NY 10003 (212) 243-4020

  • Baby B Rank:  Strollin- They did seat us with the stroller, which was smaller than usual this time bc we had the car seat in rather than the bassinet this time. We called ahead of time, but still had to wait for them to put the table together. It was a lunch time rush perhaps, and they were able to seat us, just not too excited about it.
  • Food: The food is good and has interesting choices. It’s not the spot to hit if you’re starving or want to pay less than $50 bucks. Skate Sandwich was very good, and filled me up. My husband was less than thrilled with the pasta choices for the price. We also sampled a sunflower root app which I didn’t see on the menu -we knew the waitress so I think she hooked us up- but I never had that before and it was awesome!
  • Price: Super expensive for bopping a baby on your lap while eating. Save for a date night.
  • Location:  Union Square
